A Brief History Of Kangertech
Kangertech was established in 2007 In Shenzen China now with four sites of manufacturing and 1700 employees making devices and performing quality control.
In their early years, Kangertech mainly produced cartomizer products like the Evod cartomizer tank. This was a refillable tank with replaceable coils to be attached to slim pen-style devices.
2015 saw KangerTech as one of the biggest and most well-known brands in the industry. With the release of the Sub Box Kit, This was a sub-ohm Kit with the very popular Sub Tank.
KangerTech has made a few variations of the sub box over the years and keeping it to its core styling, being a minimalistic design but with great usability and reliability.
KangerTech now offers other products such as Heat not burn, using real tobacco and also offers CBD products.
With Kanger devices being sold in the USA, they filed for the PMTA (pre-market tobacco application). With that in place, Kangertech went from offering 4 devices to just one, the Ibar Kit, a Starter Pod Kit device.
Are Kangertech devices Safe & Reliable?
With Kanger’s devices using primarily an aluminum alloy for construction of their devices and high-grade plastics devices, some of their devices have lasted a very long time.
With not many issues from people who have owned or still own a Kanger product, they have been seen as one of the hardest-wearing devices produced.
With Kangertech also producing a Rebuildable Atomizer ( RBA) section for their Sub Tank many people own one and use it in other devices like the Billet box devices as well as a few others
Kangertech offers some reassurance with their manufacturing with their products being made in an ISO-controlled environment and are GMP certified.
How Long Do Kangertech Products Last?
Using stable proprietary chipsets for their devices with different models having varied power options they offer reliable usability and functional delivery of performance.
With their design in coils typically being a horizontal coil rather the vertical this has made their coils last that bit longer however they will still avenger 1day – 2 weeks depending on the user, length of the draw, and liquid type.
Kanger performs many tests throughout the design process before releasing new products and can really be seen within their construction of the devices.
Are there any typical problems with Kangertech products?
There have not been many reports of issues but some issues are with tanks leaking and are from 2016 while the brand was in its infancy.
The issues with tanks were due to some liquid/condensation residue at the bottom of the tank with regular cleaning when replacing coils can prevent this issue.
Some report from owners are with paint peeling over time this can be expected, in some cases due to regular wear and tear but more often seen in devices over 1.5 years old.
How Is The Warranty On KangerTech Products?
Kangertech does not offer products directly with the consumer and only offers a warranty to their distributors for their products.
However, this is not to say you do not have a guarantee. When purchasing Kangertech products from a retailer it is always worth seeing what the retailer’s guarantee policy is and what is covered.
In most cases, accessories like coils, drip tips/mouthpieces, pods, and glass are not covered under warranty as well as wear and tear.
Can You Still Buy Old Kangertech Accessories?
Kanger’s coils being very popular, their OCC coils are widely available in many Vape stores globally as well as with online vape shops.
Many people still are using the original Sub Box to this day and is a statement to Kanger’s Build quality and reliability.
However, over the years Kangertech is not as well known anymore. This can be largely due to the almost overwhelming amount of competition within the market like SMOK, VooPoo, Geek Vape, and many more.
What Are The Most Popular KangerTech Products?
One of the first mainstream Pen style starter kits was Kanger’s Evod. Moving away from generic Ce4 and Ce5 starter pens, the Evod brought a more elegant and stylish entry level product to the market, purely aimed at those wishing to stop smoking.
The Sub Box is a 50-watt device powered by a single 18650 battery with a power setting from 1 watt to a maximum of 50. Combined with the popular sub-tank that produced some of the best quality vaping experiences for many this kit was their first device and lased them many enjoyable years.
Kanger’s greatest success and what made them so widely know was the Sub Tank, this is a Sub-ohm tank and was often compared to Aspires Atlantis tank.
With the Sub tank and Sub Tank Plus, using horizontal coils this also made it easy for people to rebuild the coils and not keep purchasing replacements this was also a large part of why Kangertech made the RBA section for the tank.
The IBar Pod kit is Kanger’s latest product and designs for starters in mind being very easy to use the device.
The IBar offers a 2ml capacity for liquid and has a built-in rechargeable 800 mAh battery. The device is an MTL ( mouth to lung) style of vaping making it a great option for beginners and other vapers alike.

Which Brands Produce Similar Products To Kangertech?
The Aspire Atlantis – One of Aspire’s early sub-ohm tanks was regarded as one of the best of the tanks with the Kanger’s Sub Tank being just as popular.
This was largely due to Kanger’s unique coils being a horizontal coil instead of what the other brands were doing a vertical coils design. This was arguably better than other brands as well.
Aspire offers a large line of products while still offering great quality but Kanger and Aspeir are both considered to be some of the innovators within the industry.
Aspire’s Pocket x and Kanger’s Auro kit are very similar in many ways; they are both pen-style devices and offer a very easy-to-use form factor. The Pocket x however, is more popular in today’s market, with wider availability and ease of getting replacement coils and parts.
Aspire soon released their Zelos kit which was roughly the same shape and style as Kanger’s Sub box. However the Zelos came with a built-in battery instead of a removable battery which meant that people had to wait for it to the charge, which could take 1-2 hours, while with the Sub Box, if you had a spare battery you could quickly swap it and charge later.
Another brand that can compare to Kangertech is SMOK:
Smok established them selfs in the marker much later but grew very quickly. Smok offered a lot of products at once that competed against Kanger’s lines. However, some reliability questions had to be considered when looking at Smok at the time.
Smok’s TFV4 Tank release soon became a very popular tank with many different coil options and with a wide availability across the market.
Smok also released an RBA section for the TFV4 tank making it an easier choice and just as easy to build due to the larger deck size.
With Pod devices now being a focus on beginners due to how easy they are to uses and maintain, Kangertech has released a few different styles of pods like the Auro a pen-style pod and the Gem, a small sleek Pod device.
What Do Reviewers Say About KangerTech Products?
With Kangertech producing products at a slower rate than their competitors, there is not a lot of recent reviews.
However we e checked the reviews on three different online stores:
- Vapordna.com
- YouTube
- ecigarettereviewed.com
In a YouTube video, a reviewer by the name AVAndy goes over some of the key features of the Kanger Sub Box Mini and admires how in detail the user manual is. He says “perfectly laid out for someone who doesn’t know what they are doing”. This is a very good thing to consider, an easy to understand manual is a guarantee for someone to understand what to do and how to use a product correctly.
He is able to use the device with great ease due to the very easy-to-use interface of the device and overall functionality.
Final Thoughts
Even though Kangertech is not as popular as they once were they are still producing products to this day even though the competition is tough.
With great product quality that has lasted longer than other brands, it is safe to say that Kangertech will be around for many more years to come.
It is worth considering that due to Kanger being less well known that people may not see it as much as other brands but they are a brand worth looking into and picking up.
